This is surprisingly succinct and extremely accurate work by Glenn Greenwald. Fear is the one single factor that joins the far-right wing of the current iteration of the Republican Party. With almost surgical precision, Greenwald points out the Right's overreaction to the upcoming trials of those accused of the 9/11 terrorist acts is both politically motivated AND fear-driven. The stated goals of the terrorists have been, from the beginning, the destruction of our society by their use of fear as a weapon. If the Far-right continues along their current course of action, then Greenwald's subheading is ALMOST completely accurate: "We're too scared to have real trials in our country" is a level of cowardice unmatched in the world. WE - Americans as a whole - aren't the ones who are too scared. Those on the political Far-right - the same people in charge of the current Republican Party - are the ones who are umatched cowards.
