A colour code for Iran's 'infidels'

While the Iranian economy appears to be heading for recession, one sector may have some reason for optimism. That sector is the garment industry and the reason for hopefulness is a law passed by the Islamic Majlis (parliament) on Monday.

A textbook example of bad journalism. It suggests that Iran may be turning into the New Nazi Germany, and yet offers little in terms of factual evidence or credible sources to back its controversial assertions.

The most salient, and widely-repeated, part of this news story is the allegation that religious minorities will be required to wear colored badges, in a manner highly reminiscent of Nazi Germany: "Jews would be marked out with a yellow strip of cloth sewn in front of their clothes while Christians will be assigned the colour red." Amir Taheri is not naming his sources, and numerous on-the-record sources, including Maurice Motammed, Iran's only Jewish MP, have flatly denied it. This fails as enduring news possibly because it preceded the newsblast that happened when the Post had Nazi-tormented Jews wearing the star-and conflated as disinformation what might actually be happening ---after their Pres sent our Pres such a nice love letter so recently!
