This piece undercuts itself by introducing irrelevant points and straying from the basic issue into partisan politics and economic theory. It's poor writing because even people who agree with the fundamental position taken are likely to be put off by the nonsense.

I'm very concerned about the TSA procedures, yet the Washington Times managed to write an anti-TSA editorial that alienated me. Way to go, guys!

Air travel is no longer a free transaction between a member of the public and an airline.

Only in some libertarian fantasy world has air travel never been regulated by the government for the safety of passengers and non-passengers alike. The issue is the extent and nature of that regulation.

These decisions cannot be made by Obama administration officials without involving the public in the discussions.

I think the point being made would be vastly improved by removing one word ("Obama"), but I suspect the author would rather have a dull edge on a single-edged sword than a sharp one on a two-edged sword.
