This analysis begins strong, but falls apart by the end. While I don't doubt what Usher has to say about South Asian geo-politics, he fails to convince that Indo-Pak relations are THE primary dynamic in setting the stage and determining the outcome of Afghanistan/Pakistan. Still, it's a dynamic that's not frequently explored in the US press, and worth considering as we try to understand the motivations behind Pakistan's actions.

Because it takes into account the real dynamic behind the headlines, and the ongoing problem of Kashmir. I think he hit the nail on the head when he said that the road to peace leads to Kashmir.

As Shashi Tharoor says, Pakistan was founded on a 'fraudulent hypothesis, that Hindus and Moslems cannot live together'. There are more Moslems living in India,with Hindus, peacefully, than there are in Pakistan.
