The short comment makes a reasonable tour of the Obama style up until this point, with some pungent observations of the paranoid mirror-imaging of the once conservative Republican party.

Packer omits mention of the military escalation and the abandonment of previous positions on habeas corpus and on prosecution for those who have committed torture and on immunity for illegal invasion of privacy. These run counter to the tone of the article, but thence seem important omissions.

I do not think that this is quality journalism because it seems more like a commentary, than a factual article. There are no quotes, it is all opinion. The information may be reliable, but the reader would never know because there is not a variety of sources and quotes.
