From Truthout, an apology, of sorts, for reporting Rove's indictment

A week after proclaiming that Karl Rove has already been indicted on charges of perjury and lying to federal investigators, Truthout has issued a rather inscrutable partial apology.

No comment from the principal actors--ie reporter Leopold and Rove's attorney Luskin, who denies the entire matter and is making fun of people who even consider it possible at this point. Also no historical info on Leopold -- who has a checkered background that readers should have been made aware of.

Good post-mortem on Truth-Out's unprofessional reporting. This 'loose cannon' approach to journalism is exactly why we need citizen watchdog networks like NewsTrust.

I respect Jason Leopold's reporting on Plamegate and was as surprised as Mr. Ash when the Rove indictment was not announced -- it was the first time Leopold seems to have gotten something wrong. I think the mea cupla was a bit mealymouthed and I wonder why it never appeared in a prominent place at Truthout?
