For America, the problem is Pakistan

Anatol Lieven is always worth reading. Pakistan edges closer to the abyss, and this situation is exacerbated by US military actions in Pakistan (and in Afghanistan). Iran and Russia (and China) will need to look after Afghanistan after the US leaves.

The US is squandering scores of billions of dollars, and only making things worse. American really has not proper business maintaining a large war machine in Central Asia. Let Russia, China, Iran and other countries work out how best to dampen down the violence in Afghanistan. US needs to be thinking about leaving.
