Obviously an article to commemorate Veterans Day. But it’s confusingly written, and by trying to cover varying reactions of veterans to their war experiences, the story becomes diffuse. WWII was a coeval part of my elementary school experience. Battles were everyday news, not history. Returning veterans were of my father’s generation; men eager to put the war behind them and get back to normalcy.
That generation, which brought me to manhood, is rapidly disappearing into history.
