Posted by Cynthia GilbertObviously an article to commemorate Veterans Day. But it’s confusingly written, and by trying to cover varying reactions of veterans to their war experiences, the story becomes diffuse. WWII was a coeval part of my elementary school experience. Battles were everyday news, not history. Returning veterans were of my father’s generation; men eager to put the war behind them and get back to normalcy.
That generation, which brought me to manhood, is rapidly disappearing into history.
