This profile is one of the more vivid stories on the psychological trauma among troops I've read in the wake of Fort Hood. The Times delved into a related aspect of the massacre, troop suicides. A grim story, but this added some important context: Psychiatrists were in high demand at Fort Hood—this is the type of case Hasan would have dealt with.

This was definitely a necessary article and hopefully the first of many exploring the different lives that go under the radar. Many, since the unfortunate incident at Ft. Hood, have focused solely on the soldier who administered the killings, but not on the other individual cases. indeed the incident deserves attention but so do the other cases.

I think this story is interesting and timely in the sense that it directly relates to current news regarding the same topic. It is well written and has good quotes. By starting with a more personal story, it immedaitely draws the reader in. As well, there is a good nut graf that ties it into here and now. I think that the writing style is concise and to the point.
