Study: Range of Pharmaceuticals in Fish Across US

Fish caught near wastewater treatment plants serving five major U.S. cities had residues of pharmaceuticals in them, including medicines used to treat high cholesterol, allergies, high blood pressure, bipolar disorder and depression, researchers reported Wednesday. Full Story »

The problem has been known for quite a while. The study and the EPA action are much overdue, but the news of action is encouraging.

Do we need sewage treatment that destroys the pharmaceuticals and chemicals? We need soaps and shampoos free of exotic perfumes and dyes. Old drugs need special disposal.
