It's good journalism only in that it presents an Arab view which we may not see often. But use of phrases like 'Zionist colonial enterprise' and 'imported settlers' are hardly objective. While some of the points made are legitimate, the intemperate language is really not helpful.

And where do the writer and his paper stand on Syrian and Hezbollah influence in Lebanon, neither of which is terribly helpful!

Rami Khouri gets this right: illegal Zionist colonization in the West Bank in effect is encouraged, if only tacitly, by the flaccid criticism offered by the US and the EU. Israel should be told to stop its illegal and insane "Greater Israel" project before it brings disaster down on its own head.

Murderous rampages by Israel, in Lebanon in 2006, and Gaza in 2008-09, are generated by the fantasy that a "Greater Israel" can be created and sustanied by military power (augmented by the US which in effect has been the dog wagged by the Israeli tail). Israel needs to accept the Saudi peace plan and get out of the West Bank and the Golan Heights.
