China blocks Coke's bid for juice company

China said on Wednesday that it has rejected a bid by the Coca-Cola Company to acquire one of the country's biggest beverage makers for about $2.4 billion. The move blocked what would have been the biggest foreign takeover of a Chinese company and suggested Beijing is still uncomfortable with foreign ownership of big Chinese companies. Full Story »

The story does not not Coke's less than stellar human rights history internationally, particularly in Colombia in particular. Chinese anti-competitive rationales are not investigated for validity. The nature of China's anti-trust laws is not described. The potential for political money to have influenced the decision is not investigated.
