This is an un-journalistic mess revealing a profound ignorance not just of Islam itself, but of all Judaeo-Christian culture, history, and religion. I'll skip the ominous, inexplicable, and sarcastic "mazel tov" and the misspelling of the word "man" with too many A's in it and begin with the first scholarly flaw. Grinbank embarrasses himself with the assertion that "if "Salaam means 'peace' then 'Islam' does not. Certainly 'Salaam' seems to be within the word "Islam": "I" and "sallam." [sic] Obviously, Grinbank considers these both to be English words. He is right that one word seems to be within the other, but not because the English pronoun "I" is added on. I was not impressed by this commentary about the Rally For Sanity. This opinion piece rambles on an irrelevant line of reasoning about singer Cat Stevens's connection to Islam. This piece misses the whole point, and seems seriously biased and flawed as a work of journalism. Look elsewhere for insights about this rally.
