Big Oil Launches Attack On Al Gore

Today, the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) will unveil two 60-second TV ads focusing on what it calls “global warming alarmism and the call by some environmental groups and politicians to reduce fossil fuel and carbon dioxide emissions.” The ad, which will be aired in more than a dozen cities across the country, is being released just a week before the May 24th opening (in LA and NYC) of Al Gore’s new movie on global warming, An Inconvenient ... The good thing this article does for sure is to sharpen people's alert on an important issue and maybe increase the desire of the public to become more educated in this matter. As for the conflict between environmentalists and "big oil," I guess all can be reduced at a matter of corporate power and resources. People need gas, businesses need fuel, alternative energy is still rarely implemented, a change in the energy source orientation would cost "big oil" more than a CO2 defense campaign, as oil and coal reserves are not over and the production infrastructure is thoroughly implemented for decades now... so, no matter how hilarious or outrageous the CEI misrepresentation would be, it surely takes more than public rage to change ... Well, clearly this is a left leaning news source, and it makes no airs about that. I personally patronize left news, as it is underrepresentedin the main stream press. Other news sources probably wouldn't get into where CEI gets its funding, or what the actual scientific concensus is on global warming, even though these are the fundamental questions. I think the story's important, and I'm glad to see Al Gore getting so much face time. It's just a shame that ExxonMobil couldn't donate $1.8 million to help prevent the inevitable and obvious consequences of their much consumed product. Lord knows they've got the dough. AL GORE 2008

Money is the easiest way there is to corrupt truth. By exposing the money trial, this article also shines a hopeful light on the truth about global warming.
