'Real IRA was behind army attack'

NI's Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, a former IRA member, said nobody should say or do anything which would see Northern Ireland return to its troubles.

The perplexing acts and claims are told. No claimed reasons for resuming attacks nor for attacking men due to leave for Afghanistan are mentioned. Motive is missing.

The casual reader could read this article and come away with not only information on a current event but with some historical information/perspective as well. That said, more information on the "Real IRA" Irish Republican Army splinter group would be of help/interest.

a sad commentary on how long factional hatred and illusions can continue to effect violence in so many areas of the world today. the story doesn't offer a lot of information which may well be deliberate to lessen publicity/deter further fomenting or similar reactional violence.

this is sad for northern ireland which has come so far in the few years since i lived there for a time. i do think that the country has come far enough that the citizens will not allow the ti-for-tat violence to begin again.
