Fascinating glimpse showing the possibilities that demand pricing has for bringing households into the energy-conservation picture. This story could have benefited from a summary of public-utility economics (base-load, peak-load, etc).

A lot of really good information, but it contains entire paragraphs of claims without direct support. Sources quoted near the end of the article corroborate the gist of it fairly well, though. Lacks government regulator viewpoint, but good set otherwise. I like the analogy of cell phone rate plans.

Latest in a series on the electric system. Highlights a shamefully little-known program allowing consumers to take some control of their energy bills. Very little focus on enviromental impact though (it's a 'business' article) and a link to other such programs around the country would be helpful.

This is a good story, about an increasingly important issue. It seems quite factual. It gives the facts context by quoting representatives of consumers (including an "energy lawyer"), environmentalists, electric generating companies, and academic economists. The quirks of NY City's energy situation are also given their due. Perhaps it might be improved by quotes from lower income people/renters.
