Bush Adm. Weighed Restricting 1st Amendment

In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, the Justice Department secretly gave the green light for the U.S. military to attack apartment buildings and office complexes inside the United States, deploy high-tech surveillance against U.S. citizens and potentially suspend First Amendment freedom-of-the-press rights in order to combat the terror threat, according to a memo released Monday. Although much information is this article is old information, two items were new: that the Bush administration considered suspending the first amendment; and that civilian targets—apartments, offices, and ships could be attacked if terrorists were even suspected of being there. SUSPECTED, not even sure? Knowing Bushie intelligence, it could easily mean blowing Hell out of innocents.

One wishes Bushies had suspended the first amendment. Perhaps that outrageous, illegal act would have woken some of those heads-in-the-sand Americans who weren’t paying attention during the Bushie years.
