The Supreme Court is in a tough spot in Caperton v. A.T. Massey. The legal claim here is that Americans have a due-process right to a judicial system untainted by the appearance or likelihood of bias. And appearances alone are sometimes enough. Clearly not what I'd call "fair" coverage of the Caperton v. A.T. Massey. But I think this is an example of a case where it would be disingenuous for a Slate reporter to lay out both sides' arguments in a neutral, uncritical tone. This was an informative piece, reported with an appropriately sharp tongue.
