Money clashes with mission

The Gates Foundation invests heavily in sub-prime lenders and other businesses that undercut its good works.

The conflict is one of many that a Times investigation has found between the foundation's investments and its good works. Excellent investigative journalism. This piece is well-researched and considers its subject, the Gates Foundation, within the context of other philanthropic foundations. The allegations about socially irresponsible investing are made with specific details. Very well written, using a human interest type story about a Seattle family to highlight the contradiction in philanthropies investing in 'bad' companies.

Clear reporting. The example used, works to make a eureka moment. Profit before people,even by charities. The usual cakewalk in the media stops for a minute, Gates and other billionaires even in their self aggrandizing handouts shows the cynicism pervasive in our economy.

Good expose on ONE TFF(taxfreefoundation) and its actions...points out the doublestandards of some corporations.. Groups FUNDED by corporations which NOMINALLY opposed such corps...they usually demand GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS..why would the BIG CORPS fund groups that advocate that???? Because that is WHAT THEY WANT....it gets rid of the little guy..as the BIG CORPS can pay fines and paperwork and "abide" by rules... and..most importantly.. because MORE AND MORE LAWS AND MORE AND MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROLS is the Means to anTHE end..of the Elite...where Business and Government are in a LEGAL synthesis... you might remember that this country fought AGAINST that kind of economic and political government...called FASCISM... the ...
