The Secret to Rush's Success... Indifference

(Blog Post) Have to admit – I’m sort of fascinated with Rush Limbaugh these days. Terribleness aside, it’s been fascinating to see his revival in the mainstream news of late. And yes, his revival is a problem for Republicans – but not for the reason you think. Full Story »

It's a good observation on Limbaugh and a interesting opinion piece. As a op ed article worthy of a read and provoking thoughts it's excellent journalism.

Limbaugh was a failure at everything he did before he discovered right wing hate talk. Now he has a $400 million dollar contract and his talking points have become the values of the Republican voter base. So much so, that the leader of the RNC had to apologize to him. Limbaugh struck gold when Reagan removed the fairness doctrine, which allowed Limbaugh to flat out lie on the air with nobody to hold him accountable. He has spawned an army of clones such as Hannity and Savage with the same open season on facts and the truth. What's dangerous about these guys is they have an audience of about 40 to 50 million listeners and voters who's whole political education has come from lies and Republican talking points. The Dems don't get it. They just had a vote to re instate the fairness doctrine and only 18 Democratic Senators voted yes. This would have put right wing hate talk out of business had it passed. Or at least it would have forced equal time and access to the airways for the other side of Republican talking points. Limbaugh and clonescontrol the political debate in this country even after the Republicans lost the election. There is no way McCain and Palin would have gotten 60 million votes in this last election if the networks had to offer equal time to Democrat's talking points. In essence the Republicans get 24/7 free radio advertising for their candidates and talking points from these right wing clowns, all paid for by supposedly politically neutral national advertisers. And the Dems are stupid to vote for a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine.
