The Return of Big Government

When Barack Obama met with TV anchors at a White House lunch last week, he assured them he likes being president. "And it turns out I'm very good at it," he added. Well, not exactly. What Obama is actually very good at is campaigning. He did it for two years as a presidential candidate, and it's pretty much what he's been doing in the six weeks since he was sworn in. Thank God for republicans. If there wasn't a two party system, who would we be able to laugh at. Eight years of Bush & co., with the party of fiscal government and Mr. Barnes has the gumption to ridicule spending. It is folly to look back before Bush and remember the surplus, because a prerequisite of being a conservative is having the memory wiped clean before they can join.

If you have alzheimer's disease and you are republican, you are automatically put in charge of a high-ranking committee.

This is a journal entry that makes its author feel good about himself but doesn't have much connection to reality. It's Frank Barnes' opinion, and that is all. He is in a distinct minority that still believes that the Bush tax cuts have kept the economy from tanking even more deeply than it has. It's irrational to find nothing good to say about a man whose political talents outshine Clinton and even Reagan. Roosevelt and Lincoln were dead before I was born, so I won't invoke them. It's absurd to claim that "Obama specializes in knocking down straw men" when the real champion of that tactic was G.W. Bush. We are not facing straw men, they are more like concrete men, and none of them have been even badly chipped so far. ... More »

Barack Obama has the most potential of any recent political leader. I can't understand why Barnes has his snout so twisted around. Does he make over $250,000 a year? I can understand why a person making several million a year might be afraid of Obama, but fear is no excuse for loathing. Let's be honest. The rich think they deserve to have all the money. Fred Barnes is just saying that they are justified in that belief.

The author needs a dicionary. He criticizes the stimulus bill for failing to offset spending with cuts. He makes off the cuff statements with no support. e.g. Nobody pays any attention to Biden. Obama is dreaming. He attributes the falling financial market to Obama's 30 days in office rather than 8 Bush years when he and a Republican majority for 6 years broke the bank.

In all this is the ignored irony that it was Republicans who kicked the economy over the cliff.

What kind of cigarettes has this person been smoking? What drugs is he on? Maybe the same as that fat buffoon who wants Obama to fail?
