A useful story in that it accurately conveys the blindness of top management at NPR. The big problem with this piece is that it quotes Juan Williams entirely out of context, failing even to mention his careful , and lengthy, qualification of the "nervousness" comment. NPR's CEO, Vivian Schiller, is quoted at such length that this omission cannot be forgiven as mere necessary brevity--not balanced journalism on the part of the New York Times.

NPR may be shocked when they realize the impact of their intransigence on fund-driving efforts. Many of those who regularly contribute, like myself, will be withholding our contributions until Juan Williams receives an appropriate apology.
