The story tells of a bright motivated black woman working in high technology. Other than brief statistics, the story is mostly personal and technical. The personal stories of the minority students in the queue is left untold.

Women and minorities in engineering and science often face a social dilemma; there are not enough of them to form social groups for comfortable personal and technical support. They need more personal strength to succeed and pave the way for others. In 40 years of engineering, I had one black and one woman manager; the rest were all white and male.
