The story seems to be pretty focused on the issue and doesn’t stray off into insignificant details. Several sources are cited in the article and the writer gives some history of the Republican Party as to provide some context for readers to keep in mind.

There’s no way to guarantee it, but it doesn’t hurt that the first Black president was recently elected in the history of the United States. It’s also no wonder to me that because of the failed attempts of the Republican Party to galvanize a new generation of leaders that the Republican Party wanted someone with a fresh face and new ideas to be the spokesman for their party. Hence, Michael Steel is the new chair.
