a very thoughtful, interesting and intellectual piece which places the discussion of eric holder's remarks in a much larger context, not of race relations as might be expected from an african-american professor/novelist, but the one of how we reject complex ideas. he uses a number of other examples, discussing our reduction of issues to extremes/fundamentalism. he reminds us that 'democracy needs dialogue more than it needs bumper stickers'.
