Race and the stimulus rejectionists

I admit it: I'm still enjoying all of President Obama's firsts, and watching our first black president make his first State of the Union address (even if it's the traditional first-year faux-SOTU) is exciting, no matter how dire the state of our union remains. Still, as Gary Kamiya notes today, it's remarkable how Republicans continue to put a racial spin on debates over who "deserves" government help, even with an African-American in the White House. Ms. Walsh is on the money concerning the southern agenda. With Jindal and Sanford talking smack about not taking the money, if they don't they will be tared and feathered and run out of town. Barbour's state has three times as many minorities as whites unemployed as do the others. Putting race and republicans in the same sentence is sickening.

While these states are traditionally red, if they don't take ever dollar given to them, I can see blue in the future.
