Bristol Palin's Truth Telling on Teen Pregnancy Sets Right-Wingers Sputtering |

I don't pretend to be an expert on teen pregnancy. But for the record, I think Bristol was spot-on in her comments about abstinence. If Sarah Palin's evangelical base really wants to confront teen pregnancy, they'd be smart to listen to Bristol Palin and others in her shoes and absorb some of their real-life wisdom. Full Story »

It's an important topic that is too often subject to less than balanced reporting, partly due to the hyperbole of proponents of abstinence only sex education and partly due to our pop celebrity culture.

I think it is unrealistic to expect teens to abstain from becoming sexually active before they are mature enough to recognize and deal with the potential consequences. Infant adoption is not the answer but the (market) demand for infant adoption is part of the reason why this "solution" appeals to some.

Dunn is much too kind to Fox Noise claims that Bristol was a hot campaign issue. he does the issues well.

How can anyone expect someone that has just found a new toy not to want to play with it? That is the reason abstinence only seldon works. If the right wingers were true to their fundalmentalist roots, they would support polygomy, prostitution and stoning,

A news analysis accurately reporting Palin's daughter's responses and about neocons' outrage that Palin's daughter "spilled the beans", revealing the hollowness behind abstinence only. The preposterous concept of abstinence is an excellent example of what happens when you mix politics and right-wing religion.

An old joke illustrates the point best: mother, deciding it's finally time to talk to her young daughter about the facts of life, starts by saying, "Time we talk about sex." "Okay," responds the daughter, "What is it you need to know?"

What can I say that hasn’t already been said many times before now? Ignorance, excuse me, abstinence based programs are simply absurd when confronted by age appropriate, comprehensive, empirically proven sex education. This comment or opinion on the hypocrisy of Sarah Palin’s mother and on the quality of the thinking process of religious right wingers is cogent when considering the abuse religious nuts heap on us, the people of America who just want what works best for our families.

I’m absolutely confounded that this controversy is still raging on in spite of the facts that show the overwhelming difference in the value of each; one being valid the other being nothing more than a childish demand for approval of one’s right to be irrational.
