Discusses a possible Israeli nuclear attack upon Iran. This is an extremely worrisome story, if it is true. Information is based on anonymous "Israeli military sources." The reputation of the London Times is enough for me to believe that the sourcing is accurate. This tends to corroborate articles written by Seymour Hirsh, whose sources told him that the U.S. was considering a nuclear military attack on Iran. According to him, the nuclear option was removed but plans for an American bombing campaign upon Iran remain in place. For some reason, both the U.S. and Israeli governments think it is a reasonable thing to talk openly about a voluntary war of aggression upon Iran. The problem with this story is that it does not survive even an elementary analysis with a calculator. Unfortunately for the author, I have read Dr. Helen Caldicott's book, the New Nuclear Danger, p. 9-10, which details the damage done by the 13KT atomic bomb on Hiroshima. One-fifteenth of that damage gives a bomb with 0.0667 KT effect, which would produce an immediate blast crater of 13.34 ft deep, immediate destruction of all wooden buildings for 3/10 of a mile, damage to all buildings not of reinforced concrete a bit more than 1/10 of a mile away, and 50 percent dead and another 40 percent seriously injured for a bit less than 1/5 of a mile. ok, im going to have to go with the previous comment of the storry not adding up. "Bush wants more troops in Iraq...quick what kind of scary garbage can we put in the paper to distract the masses?"
