The 911 commission drew generally positive reviews??? Mr. Shane fails to note that the 911 commission served to shield bad actors and actually hide the truth from the public. He doesn't ask or wonder if Mr. Leahy is actually seeking to shield bad actors and hide the truth from the public in the same way that the 911 commission did. Mr Shane could have done more on the benefits of criminal prosecutions. I still recommend this piece.

To Mr. Cheney, the Church legacy was a regrettable pruning of the president’s powers to protect the country — powers he and Bush administration lawyers reasserted after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

And when the public learns that Mr. Cheney is involved in conducting the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, they are going to be very angry about being ‘protected’.
