a personal perspective on a very serious issue facing the country. the personal history in the beginning is less vital to the story than the last few paragraphs asking vital questions about how or if our "republic will be protected" in the future. we can hope with the writer that something must do this because "the alternative is too frightening".

Horsey conveys his fear of the demise of journalism, and hopes for an inspired response to the financial crippling of journalism in America.
