The story of local wind turbines is interesting and somewhat novel. The scheme allows local financing, and local sites lessen any need for nationwide power grids.

My uncle had a wind turbine on his farm in the North Dakota plains in the 1930s. It is still a good idea. I would like to investigate mounting them on some of our big firs and cedars here in the Northwest. And I would like to see eased/simplified electrical codes to allow use of low voltage DC power alternatives in houses, to avoid the power losses in transformers.
