Remind Obama what he said about war

Have we learned nothing from Iraq? "When it comes to the war in Iraq, the time for promises and assurances, for waiting and patience is over. Too many lives have been lost and too many billions have been spent for us to trust the president on another tried-and-failed policy." That was Sen. Barack Obama in January 2007. Amy includes some Afghanistan experts, including Bassiouni, Jimmy Carter, and Obama to suggest we remind Obama of what a wise man once said about trusting a president on following a tried-and-failed policy.

War is a three letter word. Kill is a four letter word. Afghanistan needs a more sophisticated alphabet.

Well-written opinion. The column recommends more economic support and less war and submits the postulate that war didn’t solve anything in Iraq and won’t solve anything in Afghanistan, either–proved by the morass Russia fell into during its invasion of that country. Indeed. it became a factor in the collapse of Communism.

Didn’t we learn anything in Iraq? Of course not! It was to be a quick, painless victory making it possible for the Bush administration to gain control of its oil. But then, what did we learn from Viet Nam? Or from Korea? Both Democratic attempts to contain big bad Communism.

While citing various experts included President Carter, who knows quiet a bit about Afgan., Ms. Goodman writes a great article on the political rumblings that are going on at the White House, the military, Iraq, and Afgan.

If anyone thinks putting more military in Afgan,. is a good idea, I suggest talking to the Russians.

Amy Goodman warns that Obama should rethink his promise to escalate the US war effort in Afghanistan. US military activity seems to be making the situation worse.

I agree with Zbig Brzezinski that sending more US troops to Afghanistan will likely make the security situation worse. Why spend hundreds of billions of US taxpayer dollars to increase the level of instability in Afghanistan and the border areas of Pakistan?
