This is a reasonably insightful report on the reasons Gregg backed out of the Commerce nomination. The columnist is clearly viewing it from the political right but who better to explore the reasons.

The story tries to explain why Gregg bailed, but seems to come up with more obfuscations and hypotheses than with answers.

I would guess Gregg did not want to take the heat from other Republicans calling him a traitor for being even a semblance of a bi-partisan. But that is only MY uninformed hypothesis.

While not sourced, the article does have Gregg trying to get his foot out his month. While Gregg hasn't distinguished himself, He must have been catching a lot of flack from fellow republicans.

If it was the census, he knew before hand what Obama was going to do. If it was the stimulus, he must have knew it would have a liberal slant. Whats the real deal Greggo?
