Throwing schools out the window

So this is what the Senate seems to be coming down to: keeping bridges and throwing students out the window. The effort to prune the stimulus package to make it more palatable to Republicans is focused on slashing money for education.

While I don't find myself in agreement with Mr. Kristof often, he and his friends at Post are right about education being a high priority. While it won't put money in people's pockets the next day, some of this stimulus has to be long-term.

I can't see why the Republicans keep banging their heads against the wall about tax cuts. You have two wars going on at the same time, your in a recession, where in God's name are you getting the money to pay for this and cut taxes at the same time. Reality Time!
