Perhaps it's too soon to expect much in the way of policy details from the new Secretary of Education, but this interview left me feeling that his policy can be boiled down to one word "pragmatic." This offers little consolation to the listener as the interviewer presses for answers to the concerns of those who wonder what will happen when the stimulus money for education runs out. Nothing concrete in this story except that Obama wants to blow $140 billon on he education establishment.

The federal department of education has proved itself useless over the years. That trend is continuing, but with much more money to waste. Education has not improved since the department was established. The opposite.
