Chris Hedges believes that radical Christianist elements within the military and in American police departments, along with paid extra-military elements (mercenaries) now fighting in Iraq constitute a grave threat to democracy. The story is well-supported with facts and quotations. Hedges, the former Middle East Bureau Chief for the NY Times, believes we are on the brink of fascism in the US. The evidence he presents is compelling.
