Within the writing of Amira Hass you can feel the emotions of the information she is relating. It is a transportation to the war torn area. She visualizes the scenes very well and tells the story with factual as well as emotional information.

At first we dealt with the shocking and exponentially growing statistics. Now we get back to the humanity of it, and the inhumanity. I like Ms. Hass' writing. I always come away from her pieces thinking about the topic and with a feeling of having traveled to where she is writing about.

“Only aerial photographs of the Gaza Strip will make it possible to show and to comprehend the extent of the destruction,” a number of Western civilians said this week. They added: “But there isn’t a chance that Israel will allow anyone to come with a light plane and do aerial photography.”

This is very true but what about all of those powerful satellites we have in space? I’m sure Google or even one of the many military units have already recorded this for history.

People have their own ways of trying to characterize their personal disaster: People whose homes or small businesses have been destroyed in the shelling and bombardments, though no one in their family was killed, say: “My damage is nothing,” as though embarrassed.

The is the view of these tragedies that many in the west won’t fathom. The feeling of community here is very much a manner of survival. They take care of each other and CARE that the other has. Even if they have little, they will share it.
