Good government needs strong opposition to the Government in power. If Republicans remain the party of aging, wealthy white men, it locks itself into a permanent minority with declining influence. Bush demonstrated that 8 years without effective loyal opposition can be disastrous.

Karl Rove is a snake that hides in the weeds and waits for some small animal to stride by. But the thing about ole' Karl is, he doesn't do the killing, he sets it up for some other snake for them to kill. He gets the thrill of the kill, and doesn't even have to wash his hands. Clever by two.
