Iran's Nuclear Response Creates a Quandary for Obama
If the Obama Administration had hoped to get the bulk of Iran's current stockpile of enriched uranium out of the country under a new agreement for reprocessing abroad, those hopes are fading fast. The counter-proposal offered by Iran on Thursday contained such substantive revisions that Western officials are interpreting it as a rejection — at least of the aspect of the deal most important to the Western powers. It would seem ridiculous to expect that Iran would just ship out 75% of their enriched uranium. Any hard feelings on their decision are because we tried to trick them and it failed. The ruse was to have their 'friend' Russia be the place where the uranium goes is handled. But, Russia backed off when the US started to ramp up the pressure in 2003 and reneged on their promises to finish up the Bushir Nuclear Plant, so why would Iran entrust them with so much of their enriched uranium that it would be difficult to recreate. As for Israel's attitude, what else would one expect. They are determined to destroy Iran. One can only hope the US isn't stupid enough to facilitate their insanity.
