2007: Web 2.0 Companies I Couldn't Live Without

I enjoyed sorting through the hundreds of startups that we had written about, and picking just a handful that made a real impact on my life. It was so much fun, actually, that I'm updating the list this year.

It's a good article except that it's very much an insider's article. Mike assumes you track all these categories and know, to some extent, what each is. The casual reader will need to follow a lot of links to the coverage on other pages. Just a few more words of description for each might have been a huge improvement.

Selection is based on personal taste only, but it is clear it was done on that way so I think it is OK. And maybe this way of selection - to recommend what what is usable for me - is the best way of recommendations. One can find an inspiration here so it could be reasonable to look at it, even if you prefer last.fm not pandora...
