The Next War President

Barack Obama will assume that just and rightful authority at noon on Tuesday. After a dinner with him that I attended last week, as we said our goodbyes, I overheard one of my fellow conservatives say softly to the president-elect, “Sir, I’ll be praying for you.” Obama seemed to pause as they shook hands, and to thank him more earnestly than he did those of us who simply — and sincerely — wished him well.

As part of the group that wrote PNAC, I can hardly credit his appraisal of Bush going to war against Iraq...as it was part of the PNAC plan before Bush took office. Also, he totally failed to mention that 9/11 occurred on Bush's watch-after disregarding warnings from Clark and other professionals! This is a re-writing of history, and totally inexcusable. And to title our next president the "Next War President" is beyond the pale, especially before Obama is in office. He might well, and I hope, be our "End the War President"- but that falls off of PNAC's path for the USA future. Trying to rewrite the history of the Bush presidency by not only distorting but ommitting pertinent facts is sheer partisanism and not quality journalism. Also, there are many sides to the situation of Israel and Gaza, and just because Kristol agreed with Bush doesn't mean all Jews do. Many agree with Moyers on this issue and far more people rate Bush as one of the worse presidents and leaving the country in a total mess! How can he say Bush's most impressive achievement was winning the war in Iraq when we are still there fighting? Our troops not home? He seems delutional here! And stating that Bush keeps a schedule made me laugh out loud- what for, his vacations and times off?
