Interesting compilation of nearly uniform condemnation of G W Bush's arrogance, ignorance and astounding incompetence as a commander in chief, from newspapers around the world. Israel is the exception, and Bush's effort to deceive Americans into believing Israel's enemies are the enemies of the US, is obviously the reason.

I recommend the superb editorial in the Financial Times today, and agree completely with it. I also recommend Basahar al-Assad of Syria's comments today in his interview in Spiegel (spiegel.de/international). Bush's total lack of an ability to think strategically, and his utter laziness in refusing to read newspapers, magazines and other sources of information about the Middle East, left him easy prey for manipilators in the White House (like Elliott Abrams) who seem to work for Israeli militarists rather than the people of the US.
