Fascinating view of broad Arabic nations' perspectives, including disagreement between the leaders' actions and the people's anger against the Israeli government's attacks on Gaza. Particularly informative are the positions held by Chavez in Venezuela, and Qaddafi in Libya.

The Bush administration's policies have contributed significantly to the rise of Hamas in Gaza, by forcing elections against vehement urging of wiser voices. And the administration's failure to take any meaningful steps toward compelling a cease-fire has fed the Arab world's anger at the US. President-Elect Obama faces unprecedented challenges when he takes office January 20, and his silence on the issue--necessary because Bush is still President--is generating increasing anti-American sentiment in the Middle East, and anger among Obama supporters who expect him to take a more well-informed and active approach to stopping the violence and brokering a just and lasting peace.
