this piece clearly illustrates the irony of tom friedman's op-ed opinion. that he doesn't see the irony of terrorism himself would appear to be a blind spot in his perceptions.

as i read these stories, i think that they illustrate that extreme actions such as those of israel and hamas, generate extremism in thinking in normally reasonable onlookers to the actions. that extremism in turn can make it more difficult in many extreme actions to find solutions to them.
