Speaking with judgment, not prejudice
YET another bloodbath in Gaza, and yet more upset sighs from Malaysians. Into the third week of fighting, the figures are, once again, excruciating -- more than 900 people killed on the Palestinian side, and 13 Israelis.
It is not just Malaysian Muslims who are outraged; the injustice is felt by all. Funds for Gaza have seen contributions from the Chinese and Sikh communities; members of parliament from both the government and opposition have debated the conflict.
There is a shared frustration over the plight of the Palestinians who have suffered under Israeli occupation and a debilitating economic blockade.
