Reporter mourns his shattered Gaza hometown

I live alone in my office. My wife and two young children moved in with her father after our apartment was shattered. The neighborhood mosque, where I have prayed since I was a child, had its roof blown off. All the government buildings on my beat have been obliterated.

Barzak provides many details of the devastation and personal losses he is experiencing in Gaza City. The story is personal and compelling. Since the Israelis are trying to keep reporters out, this local reporter provides a rare verbal glimpse of the wreckage and hardships.
