Much of it is old news. The retelling of Keats and McCain here omit some of the more onerous details that have recently been exposed again in the campaign.

McCain will do anything to help himself. He escaped censure in Keats because he was a Republican in a Republican senate. After the thumping he did get, he joined Feingold in campaign finance reform to re-establish his political status. And earmarks are small potatoes when you can get whole bills to give away a trillion to corporate executives. Earmarks are a problem, but they are window dressing given the current corruption.

There are a multitude of ways one can direct a narrative about McCain. This one seems to be returning to the pre-election narrative of McCain as a maverick, but without a comprehensive log of actions or solid statements from the candidate.
