ABC News is to be commended for doing this story about the chain 7/11 mistakenly reneging on a life insurance policy. The reporters did provide useful information concerning the federal law with recommendations for viewers, which makes the reading worthwhile.

This is a double-bylined story that seems to have come to the attention of ABC News because of a lawsuit verdict rather than through investigative reporting. The difference? The thousands in the same situation who cannot afford an attorney. That's why the news media, especially investigative teams, are important.
