The title belies the content, the story meanders, analysis is confusing, but at least this opinion contains more than the now trite regurgitations about Katrina and Iraq, etc. Some information is suspect to me -- like the critique of the Bush administration's support for Ethiopia's military envoys in Somalia -- but it does bring new ideas to light for an American reader. The piece is from African Path, a Minneapolis-based news Web site that, as explained in its advertising page, caters to "affluent" members of the African diaspora. Not a terribly well written story, but very interesting and worth checking out for new perspectives.

This is a view of a well informed voice from Africa. Some disasterous Bush policies and actions on the African continent are identified. The U.S. media is vilified for not informing the American people of the U.S. malevolence in Africa.

I hope Biedemariam's hope for a reawakening of the American values and standards become more than wishful thinking. A more vigilant international press could be helpful.
