Cheney's Legacy of Deception

But the hoary warmongering after 9/11 afforded a convenient distraction from the economic problems at home. As I asked in a column on June 26, 2002: "Has the war on terrorism become the modern equivalent of the Roman circus, drawing the people's attention away from the failures of those who rule them? Corporate America is a shambles because deregulation, the mantra of our president and his party, has proved to be a license to steal."

Scheer and others have been saying much the same thing for years. This is not to say he's wrong, just that he's not saying anything new--or offering any new proof.

"Dèja-vu" all over again. Still, it makes good reading and deserves to be savored again and again. It should be made required reading for every history and civics student in every high school in the country. Forever and ever.

As for the accuracy of the information in this article, as well as the effect it's going to have on Cheney; quoting the master himself: SO?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scheer takes the facts and speaks truth in the face of the administration's self-aggrandizing campaign. Short, pointed, and on target. This is all old news, unless you have been watching Fox.

Cheney should be prosecuted, for the benefit of upholding the constitution and the rule of law for future generations and for an example for countries around the world beset with similar would-be tyrants.

Scheer makes a good case for regarding Dick Cheney as the most dangerous and worst vice president in the history of the Republic.

Dick Cheney is the most dangerous and worst vice president in the history of the Republic, which Cheney's gang have done their best to subvert with the idiotic "war" on "terror" - - one of the most profitable undertakings in history for a chosen few.

Despite the fact that most people would agree on the truth of the article, it doesn't deserve a high rating as journalism. It is an update of an earlier article, it is recycled from another source, and it doesn't tell us anything we don't already know. That is not to say that I don't appreciate every voice that speaks the truth, particularly in the face of this administration's gleeful and freshmanic propaganda blizzard.

Cheney, Bush, and Palin are all manifestations of the deliberately optimistic, opportunistic, and ignorant state of mind popularized by the religious right. Trying to punish them would be like trying to punish a wild orangatan for pooping on your carpet.

Mr Scheer puts the blame of these last eight years at the feet of the one who devised and put in motion the most ill conceived foreign policy decisions in this nation's history. While Bush may have been at the helm, Chenay was steering the boat.

In the months to come, Obama has many decisions to make on the direction this country will take for the years to come. but if he doesn't take the time to look back at the attrocities committed by the former Admin., Bush, Cheney and co. will get away with mass murder.
